Lublin hits Public Transport Leader 2023!

Ecological transport ventures, broadly understood electromobility and investments in breakthrough technologies - were valued by the Polish Association of Public Transport Employers. Consequently, Public Transport Leader 2023 title was acknowledged and granted. Lublin received an award in the "Modern Communication Centre - Lublin Bus Station" category.

Public transport is a key to providing access to transfer hubs as well as accompanying infrastructure to all inhabitants. The modern and ecological facility with accompanying platforms is the key issue of a multi-purpose EU project. The award is a honorable distinction for Lublin and its residents who have been waiting for this unique space for years. I am deeply grateful for this public recognition that is truly inspiring and deeply appreciated - says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

The Polish Association of Public Transport Employers is a nationwide entity bringing together managers and coordinators of public transport sector. The main aim is to provide transport employees with better conditions, professional development, skill improvement and simultaneously ensuring them continuous employment, social security, decent wages and pension guarantee. The Association pursues these goals, especially by steadily inducing government and self-government administration representatives, MPs, senators and all business entities having a particular impact on legislation, transport and the labor market in Poland and Europe.

Metropolitan Lublin Station is a thorough project that integrates urban and suburban transports concurrently.
Designed with sustainable development in mind, it offers a three-story building with an area of 18,000 m2 with an underground “Park & Ride” garage with 174 parking spaces, including spaces for people with disabilities and charging stations for electric cars. There you will also find platforms for buses, an impressive glass roof or charging stations for electric cars and buses. The Lublin Metropolitan Station is also distinguished by intelligent transport systems, and its innovative element is a functional roof with an observation deck, recreational zones and a playground for children. Additionally, the building is adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. It has, among other things, guidance plates and induction plates for the hearing impaired visitors.

Total project value equals over PLN 345 million, of which almost PLN 197 million is co-financed from European funds.
