The fourth edition of the Lubliner Festival - Jewish Culture Festival will be held on August 6 – 13, 2023 in Lublin!
Since summer has knocked on Lublin, it is a sure sign that soon we will meet again at the Lubliner Festival - Jewish Culture Festival in Lublin. Since its first edition, the Lubliner Festival has been connecting generations, teaching about Jewish history, customs and traditions.
The Festival starts on Sunday,  August 6th and will continue until Sunday, August 13th. Hot August nights will be filled with the musical performances of excellent Polish and International acts. There will be a variety of genres presented:  jazz, folk, traditional, modern, sentimental and ambient music.
This year, the Concert Shell in the Saxon Garden will host the Grammy Award winner and one of the top klezmer musicians in the world - Frank London and Lorin Sklamber (USA), co-founders of the award-winning legendary New York band Klezmatics, as well as gospel singer - Joshua Nelson. They will be accompanied by a folk-klezmer band from Germany, Dobranotch.
Olga Mieleszczuk (Israel) and Tango Attack invite you to the concert celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of Israel.
The Concert  "Still waters run deep" performed by Marcin Pendowski & Lala Czaplicka will take all the jazz lovers on a journey through the history of Jewish artists of this genre, presenting well-known songs in new funky-blues arrangements.
The phenomenal Bester Quartet from Krakow will present a klezzjazz project. Leszek Żądło and Joachim Mencel will take us on a truly cosmic journey through the jazzy vibes with their concert "Cosmic Silence".
Darek "Maleo" Malejonek and his friends will pay tribute to the Ulma family beatified on September 10, the Polish Righteous and all those who saved Jews during the war.
During the festival days, we will once again invite you to inspiring meetings with witnesses of history, artists, writers, lecturers, among whom Rabbi Michael Schudrich could not be missing, who will be happy to answer all your questions.
During the 4th Lubliner Festival you will be able to meet, among others: with Elżbieta Ficowska, rescued from the Warsaw Ghetto, and Agata Tuszyńska, a writer and reporter.
This year, we decided to open the door of Lublin Yeshiva for you by inviting you to the Shabbat table, where we will not only share challah, but also stories about the Shabbat tradition and listen to Jewish songs.
All those who would like to learn the secrets of Jewish cuisine are invited to culinary workshops. Speaking of workshops, we also recommend Israeli dance or self-defence workshops with elements of Israeli Krav Maga.
The program also includes exhibitions, guided tours, film screenings, meetings with filmmakers and a theater performance. Famous and excellent actresses, Katarzyna Żak and Ewa Makomaska, will present the spectacle “Tamara de Łempicka. Insatiable."
The film connoisseurs will have the opportunity to watch an excellent documentary about Wilhelm Brasse, photographer from Auschwitz entitled "Portrait" and talk to its creators: director Irek Dobrowolski and producer Anna Dobrowolska.

As the director and founder of the Festival, Etel Szyc, emphasizes: “It is a great honor for me to be able to organize the Festival for a city with over 700 years of history, common to Poles and Jews. A city with great traditions, where Jewish and Polish culture constantly mingled and drew from each other, a city that fascinates and inspires subsequent generations of residents. Out of love for the hometown, out of love for Jewish history, culture and tradition, the Lubliner Festival was created.”

The festival is a non-commercial and educational event - participation in all events is free.
