A trinational conference was held on September 26-27, 2023, in Münster. With this project, Münster worked with Lublin and its Ukrainian twin city of Lviv, to develop ideas and tools on how books can help children and young people cope with emotions. The background was psycho-emotional challenges for young people in the face of the Covid 19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine and climate change. Books should be used to help them process emotions more easily during these crisis-ridden times. Based on this, an online publication was released after the conference. On September 26, the project participants were engaged in a conversation during subject-oriented guided tour of the city, that included a visit to the Coppenrath publishing house in Münster. Moreover, on September 27, the project was concluded with a public evening event.
Book=Life is a trinational project that Münster, Lublin, its Ukrainian partner city Lviv jointly conceived in Spring 2022. The international artistic research project aims to contribute to the cultural and pedagogical use of literature to improve the way children deal with developmental problems. The aim is for cultural and educational organisations from Poland, Germany and Ukraine to develop universally applicable toolkits for the use of literature to strengthen the handling of child development problems. The target group of the project are young people aged 1-14 years and their parents or caregivers. The City of Münster was working closely with Burg Hülshoff - Center for Literature, the interdisciplinary literature center of the Annette von Droste zu Hülshoff Foundation.
The project was supported by the EU programme "Creative Europe".
