“Solidarity together” - second anniversary of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine

The City of Lublin will commemorate the second anniversary of full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine and the humanitarian aid provided by Lublin residents to Ukraine and its citizens with the series of events to be held on 24th and 25th February 2024.
The last two years have particularly demonstrated the importance of solidarity and good neighborhood relations. The Lublin community, together with international partners, has been actively participating in various forms of assistance for Ukraine and its citizens. Thousands of families from the Lublin Region welcomed refugees into their homes, and local governments, in cooperation with NGOs and businesses, supported refugees and organized humanitarian aid for Ukraine. Together, Ukrainians and Poles confirmed their commitment to building a lasting, democratic, stable European future for the region.

The official celebrations will start on Saturday, February 24, at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Lublin City Hall, where a plaque will be unveiled commemorating Lublin being awarded the title of the City Rescuer by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. The "City Rescuer" distinction was presented by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to the Mayor of Lublin, Krzysztof Żuk, on April 6, 2023. The President of Ukraine honored the City of Lublin for the comprehensive assistance and solidarity shown to the Ukrainian nation and supporting Ukraine in defending its independence and sovereignty. Then the celebrations will move to the headquarters of the Consulate General of Ukraine at ul. Spokojna 2, where the Ukrainian flag will be raised.

At. 12.15 in the hall of the "Orion" building (ul. Spokojna 2) the "Lublin helps Ukraine" exhibition will be opened. The exhibition presents different forms of the aid provided to Ukraine and its citizens by the City of Lublin and its inhabitants in the first year after the outbreak of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The programme of the celebration also included the exhibition "Unissued Diplomas" presenting the fate of 40 Ukrainian students who died in Ukraine, the screening of the film "20 Days in Mariupol", as well as a performance and concert at Litewski Square. The events are organized by the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin headed by Mr. Oleh Kuts - Consul General in cooperation with the Mayor of Lublin Krzysztof Żuk, the Voivode of Lublin Krzysztof Komorski, the Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship Jarosław Stawiarski, and the Commander of the Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian Brigade Col. Piotr Lisowski. Mrs. Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, will also take part in the celebrations.
