Tourist numbers hit a record high in Lublin!

Nearly 1.6 million travellers visited our city in 2023. This is 65% more local guests and as many as 7 times more foreign visitors than in 2022.

We have noted a significant increase in a number of people visiting Lublin. In 2023, it was nearly 1.6 million tourists. We are very delighted with a current tendency, especially when it comes to a booming popularity among foreign guests. It is also the outcome of effective City cooperation with the Lublin tourism industry. I would like to thank our local entrepreneurs for their expertise, open-mindedness to joint projects and perseverance, driven by which, Lublin tourism has not only survived the challenges the entire tourism sector has faced in recent years, but has also enriched the offer with further engaging ventures - says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

In 2023, 1.588 million travellers visited Lublin, including almost 1.245 million local tourists and 343.000 foreign ones. In turn, the entire Lublin Metropolitan Area was visited by nearly 2.3 million people, including approximately 1.8 million visitors from Poland and 500.000 from abroad. Among the local guests, 670.000 were tourists staying overnight, while the remaining 575.000, were visitors who spent 1 day in Lublin. Among those who decided to stay overnight, the largest group were travellers who stayed in our city from 2 to 4 nights - 42%. Moreover, 38% of tourists stayed for one night, and 16% stayed for 5 to 7 nights. Young people were most likely to visit Lublin in terms of age structure.

2023 was an extremely hectic time for us, focusing predominantly on the needs of young people with regard to European Youth Capital 2023 title. Hence, Lublin attracted thousands of young people, who represented nearly half of all travellers - says Beata Stepaniuk-Kuśmierzak, Deputy Mayor of Lublin for Culture, Sport and Participation.

Urban undertakings also include a refreshed Lublin Tourist app, supplemented with an AR module. Owing to it, users can see monuments that no longer exist in Lublin. In turn, a new "Kitchen of Inspiration" Festival is a response to the growing general tendency of culinary tourism branch.

On February 21, we celebrate International Tourist Guide Day. In 2018, City of Lublin created the Inspiration Guide programme, that currently involves 27 experienced, creative city guides.
