Juliusz Machulski - an outstanding film director, has been associated with Lublin since his early childhood. He lived in Lublin, and his passion for theatre and cinema began in this city. His parents - Halina and Jan Machulscy performed at Juliusz Osterwa Theatre in Lublin, and his father (Jan Machulski, actor) performed in Andersen Theatre in Lublin. As a child, he willingly visited these places, including the Staromiejskie cinema, located in the present building of Old Theatre. As he underlines, Lublin has shaped him in may ways.
Juliusz Machulski returned to Lublin in 2012.
In a special way, Juliusz Machulski joined the Grand Jubilee of the 700th anniversary of Lublin celebrations in 2017, preparing for this special occasion "Volta" - film with Lublin as the main, beautifully presented protagonist. Through his artistic activity, Juliusz Machulski greatly contributed to the development of cultural life in Lublin; enhanced the prestige and position of Lublin as a recognisable cultural centre in Poland.
