Krzysztof Cugowski

Krzysztof Cugowski was born in Lublin in 1950. This outstanding Polish rock musician received musical education in piano class at the School of Music and later at the Secondary School of Music in Lublin. In 1969, he formed a rock band called Prompter's Box - Budka Suflera. Between 1983 and 2014, until the band ended its operations, he cooperated with Budka Suflera, giving concerts in Poland and abroad. His musical oeuvre includes 12 studio albums, 4 concert albums and 5 compilation albums. One of them is “Nic nie boli tak jak życie” [Nothing Hurst Like Life] which was sold in over a million copies, setting a sales record in the Polish phonographic market, which has not been broken yet. The band gave concerts in the most prestigious places in the world, for example in 1999 Budka Suflera performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York, and in 2004 they recorded a part of the songs for the album entitled “Jest” [Here it is] at the Village Recorders studio in Los Angeles. In 2020, when the artist celebrated a double jubilee of 50 years on stage and his 70th birthday, a double album entitled “50/70 Moje Najważniejsze” [50/70 My Most Important Ones] was released with a selection of new recordings of Krzysztof Cugowski’s songs, spanning 50 years or his artistic activities. The artist was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for outstanding merit to Polish culture, the Gloria Artis Gold Medal for Merit to Culture, the title of Lubelskie Province Ambassador, the Mayor of Lublin’s Medal, the Lublin Angelus award and the Fryderyk’97 Polish music industry award in the category of Vocalist of the Year. Krzysztof Cugowski has been engaged in numerous charity and community campaigns for years.

He was granted Honorary Citizenship of Lublin by way Resolution of the Lublin City Council No. 1470/L/2023 dated 25 May 2023.
