The Palace of the Sobieski Family (or the Palace of the Radziwiłł Family or the Vetters’ Palace) was built in the first half of the 16th century. Probably the original function of the building was the defensive and residential function. On the grounds of today's palace there was a residential tower with a bastion (in the tower there was a pub). Then, the building was redesigned by Marek Sobieski, who gave it the representative character, which corresponded to the headquarters of the Lublin provincial governor. In the 17th century the palace was part of an estate. In the 19th century it was turned into a mill. From 1884, it has been expanded (it served as a block of flats, a school, a military hospital, the headquarters of PPR, DOKP, WSI-PL). Nowadays, the Lublin University of Science and Technology is located here.
