The Little Academy of Design is a collective of female architects, designers and art historians who use lectures and workshops to draw attention to the importance of the the city we live in, architecture that surrounds us and design, or utilitarian items around us.
The leitmotif of the 2015 Academy is Re-creations. It focuses on the problems connected with designing changes, from those in our own flat or house, to the public space. In the spirit of ecology, you will learn how to process things that already exist; how to recycle both material objects and ideas. Our goal is to make the residents of Lublin – which is a city with distinguished traditions and culture – interested in architecture, design and urban planning. We would like to show the effect of joint actions on our surroundings and the city’s aesthetics, and the potential of such actions in creating a space that it friendly to all people, regardless of their age, social status and physical condition. The participants will take strolls in the Old Town to learn about designing green spaces in the historic tissue of the city; they will design their children's room together with the children; they will design a souvenir from Lublin and a playground for Alice in Wonderland brushing up their knowledge of the book at the same time; they will also design a one-room flat, small architecture, a playground for adults; they will learn how to choose paint colours to match to their home interior …and many, many more.
