The circus - some love it, others hate it. Carnaval Sztukmistrzów - the biggest festival of new circus and busking in Poland will satisfy both. Those who love circus will discover how much more content and variety exists in new circus shows in contrast to animal taming or acts known from traditional circus. The other group have an opportunity to experience a circus unlike any they have known, where performers use their incredible skills to tell enchanting stories. At the festival, the audience interacts directly with this incredible art. Shows take place in Lublin’s streets and squares as well as the inside circus tents. Artists amaze us with their dexterity and creativity; they move, delight and entertain us by enacting diverse, colourful characters. Carnaval is also about the unique atmosphere, largely created by Urban Highline Festival which accompanies Carnaval Sztukmistrzów. Its participants, the highliners who walk above the heads of Carnaval’s attendees, come to Lublin from over 50 countries in the world. After 10 years of the festival, Lublin has become a mecca for slackliners and highliners, mostly owing to the innovative idea of hanging lines not in nature - as is the usual practice - but in the city centre. It’s a big challenge to tackle several dozen lines up to 100 metre long and of varying difficulty that are hung at various heights ranging from 7 to 40 m above the ground.
