I invite citizens to celebrate Christmas together in our city, which will be decorated with the new illuminations, known decorations of Jarosław Koziara and unique events. On the borderline of two important jubilees for us  the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining its independence and the forthcoming 450th  anniversary of the Union of Lublin we will again create one community of Lublin to celebrate Christmas Eve and welcome the New Year on a brand-new promenade and  Plac Litewski -says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.

In the nativity scene located at Plac Litewski (in front of the former Pedet/Galeria Centrum) the citizens will be able to listen to the carols performed by choirs and artists from the entire country.

Great concerts will take place at the Lublin Philharmonic, the Basilica of Dominicans in the Old Town or in the Culture Centre as part of The Christmas Festival where citizens will have the opportunity to listen to Ania Rusowicz and her  “Retro Narodzenie” concert (December 27th), Romuald Lipko with pastorals or bands such as Scholares Minores Pro Musica Antiqua and Panopticum youth theatre and the Gospel Rain choir.

Traditionally, the Dominicans will gather everyone around the Christmas table on the common Christmas Eve of the Old Town scheduled for Sunday, 23rd of December. Common celebration, solemn mass for the citizens of the city, Christmas pageant, Christmas table, greetings and the wafer sharing will create a unique Christmas atmosphere. On the Krakowskie Przedmieście’s pedestrian zone will be a Christmas market with handicrafts, Christmas decorations, baked specials and hot dishes from 20th till 23rd of December.

Art workshops was also prepared as a part of Christmas Festival. Organizers of KLANZA Association and Anima Art invite children and their parents to take part in workshops that give opportunity to develop the passion of creation, explore new skills, develop manual skills and also spend time together before Christmas. Admission to the event is free, no previous entries are required.

The Old Theatre on 27thand 28th of December invites us to the movie screenings about Christmas. Admission to this event will be available at the theatre box office.

The Union of Lublin is said to be a theme of this year's New Year's Eve party. New Year's Eve will take place on two stages - on both sides of the Krakowskie Przedmieście pedestrian zone. Exactly 450 years ago Polish-Lithuanian negotiations began on the creation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth which is called today as The Union of Lublin. Therefore, during the forthcoming of the New Year, the official celebration of the 450th anniversary of the Union of Lublin will begin.

It was at Litewski square where the camp was stationing where Lithuanians negotiated the terms of the Union of Lublin. At that time, the King of Poland, the nobility and lords were staying at the Lublin Castle and at the Old Town. Because of these events and historical location, the New Year’s Eve will be referred to the Polish-Lithuanian dialogue by setting two scenes at the ends of the Lublin promenade. There will be a Polish stage at Plac Łokietka and a Lithuanian stage at Plac Litewski  next to the monument of Union of Lublin. Djs from both countries will be responsible for musical setting in a climate of club and carnival rock and roll music.

Attractions associated with Christmas Festival in Lublin last till the 13th of January.
