It is the third 3rd annual Jagiellonian Fair, the biggest artistic and merchant event on this side of the Vistula River. It combines the tradition of historic fairs with contemporary cultural and economic exchange. The Lublin Fair offers participants the chance to admire handicraft goods from craftsmen form across Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus. It also includes a rich cultural program.
This year, over 300 exhibitors will present their goods. And for the first time, there will be stands with traditional Crimean handicrafts representing the region’s rich culture, as well as original Hutsul pottery. The Summer School of Folk Pottery will be open from August 10-16. Its instructors include folk artists from the most renowned pottery centers in Poland – Czarna Wieś Kościelna, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Bolimów and Łążek Odrynacki. Some classes will be also taught by Walentyna Dżuraniuk, a Ukrainian guest, a master of Hutsul pottery, and a student of Aleksander Bachmatiuk. In addition of the merchants and workshops, the organizers have also prepared an artistic offering: open air performance of “Klątwa/Curse” by Janusz Opryński, based on a drama by Stanisław Wyspiański; Old Polish games for children and families; 1st National Open Stickball Competition; and concerts by folk bands, including Dacha Bracha (Ukraine), Hollòènek Hungarica (Hungary), Słoma i Przedwietrze, Maćko Korba, Beltaine, Orkiestra Św. Mikołaja. The Knight's Tournament will be held during the Fair’s final two days. Its participants will include military formations from Poland and abroad. The event will take place in the medieval town, located near the Lublin Castle.
