Artists, bring us more light! Submit your idea for a light art installation that will become one of the attractions during the Night of Culture in Lublin on June 2-3, 2018. The event’s organizer, Workshops of Culture in Lublin, once again issue a challenge to creative individuals. A call for visual art projects is now open.
About the project
We want to create a unique collection of light-based works. These can include lanterns, glowing objects and installations, or LED constructions – these are just a few ideas for inspiration. We are looking for original projects and encourage you to send in your submissions.
Who can participate?
You don’t need a diploma in art to take part in the project “More light!” and present your light installation during the Night of Culture. We are looking for creative individuals who are involved in broadly defined visual arts. All candidates chosen to co-create the exhibition will have an opportunity to take part in workshops and consultations with visual artists and electrical installation specialists.
What projects are we looking for?
More points will be awarded to unconventional projects, open minds and surprising ideas. Another important issue to take into account is whether festival attendees will be able to clearly and easily see the installation. Moreover, you must consider technical issues and time schedule. When planning your project, you mustn’t forget about the most important thing – the source of light, which is essential for the installation.
Dates and deadlines
- 19 February 2018 – launch of open call for “More Light”
- 5 March 2018 – deadline for open call submissions
- by 11 March 2018 – all entrants will receive a phone call or an e-mail with the results
- 12 March – 30 April – workshops focused on artistic events that use light in city space and individual consultations. Specific dates of the meetings will be arranged with selected participants.
- 2–3 June 2018 – opening of the exhibition in city space during the Night of Culture
Registration
Submissions can be sent online via an application form at nockultury.pl and warsztatykultury.pl from February 19 up to March 5.
The submissions will be evaluated by a jury consisting of Jarosław Koziara, an experienced light installation artist, and Joanna Wawiórka-Kamienicka, director of the Night of Culture festival.
A detailed programme of the Night of Culture with all accepted open call submissions will be published on Workshops of Culture’s website in mid-May.
