Do we need an epic novel covering the many levels of the Polish transformation that has been taking place over the last twenty years or that will provide a panoramic vision of contemporary Poland? Since 1989 we have craved for new great novels like “The Spring to Come” or “The Doll”. Right now we seem to be concerned with different problems, but we will not run away from the question. Is it possible to write a great epic novel like “The Doll” today? Maybe we should find another example to follow? Does Poland really need such a novel about itself at all?
