Galeria Biała, ul. Peowiaków 12
Galeria Biała presents an exhibition of Monika Zawadzki’s works "Dwa wspólne pokoje" (Two Common Rooms); the exhibition is a part of ende neu project.
The title of the exhibition is directly related to the structure of an exhibition hall, divided into two adjoining rooms. They have been appropriated and redefined for the purpose of the exhibition. The enormous space of the exhibition hall is transformed into an ‘overcrowded’ two-room apartment.
Monika Zawadzki (b. 1977), visual artist. With the use of sculpture, painting and video she creates simple forms formally rooted in graphic design. One of the main subjects of her work is the idea of creating identity. Her artistic activity concentrates on social issues associated with exclusion, limitations, and mechanisms of individuals, related to otherness, sexuality and physicality. She also takes interest in transformation of the matter and perceives ‘natural unity’- divided into animate and inanimate matter – as a symbiosis at interpersonal level and also in relation to nature and civilization. Her works were presented at solo exhibitions in The Centre For Contemporary Art - Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw (2008, 2010) and at Pinchuk Art Centre w Kiev (2012). Zawadzki is committed to independent projects located on the borderline of art and sociology. She is an Art Director of DIK Fagazine. Between 2003 and 2006, she ran the independent, non-profit art gallery ZOO.
