After his critically acclaimed movies - "White dress" and "Extras", director Michał Kwieciński, one of Poland's most influential film producers but also a theatre director in his own right (working for Polish TV's TV Theatre), decided to film a screenplay written by Jerzy Stefan Stawiński, one of the founders of the Polish Film School. As a result, "Tomorrow we are going to the movies" came into existence. It is a nostalgic narrative about the last pre-war summer of the so-called "Columbus generation" - the then twentysomethings, pulverised by the unyielding death machine of history. The young Poles' friendships, infatuations, and genuine loves come to a bitter end with the outbreak of what would unfold as the Second World War on September 1, 1939.
