„Kultura Enter” Meetings: Meeting № 13

Report on the state of culture in Georgia/Getting closer to the EU

What is the condition of Georgian culture? How do alternative circles function? What do the Georgians themselves want to change and how can they reach it? Also, what new cultural opportunities can arise as a result of the country’s signing the European Union affiliation treaty? Finally, what more in the sphere of arts and culture, in addition to wine-making and toasting each other’s health, can Georgia offer Europe?

The meeting will be attended by guests invited by the Open Culture Foundation and the “Kultura Enter” Journal:
Lela Piralishvili – Tbilisi, State Academy of Arts, philosopher
Ana Riaboshenko – Tbilisi, TRAM NGO, manager of culture
Tamta-Tamara Shavgulidze – Tbilisi, State Academy of Arts, art critic
Hosted by: Łukasz Jasina – “Kultura Liberalna” Journal, KUL

During the meeting with the Georgian culture exeprts we will try to diagnose the situation and contexts in which the Georgian culture and NGO sectors function. We would like to talk about the roles and opportunities offered by the signing of the pre-accession treaty by Georgia. The meeting is also a prelude to the “Report on the state of culture in Georgia”, slated for publication in 2015, which is being prepared by Open Culture Foundation’s series entitled: Report on the state of culture and NGO in the Eastern Partnership countries and Russia.

Organisers: Open Culture Foundation, Warsztaty Kultury/Workshops of Culture, “Kultura Enter” Journal, Adam Mickiewicz Institute
Partner: “Kultura Liberalna” Journal
Financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage
