Pregnant but single, Rannveig leaves Copenhagen for Iceland. Almost immediately, she realizes that her bourgeois family, including her pedantic sister Thuríd, will stop at nothing to protect the family’s honour. Ironically, however, Thuríd will soon follow in Rannveig’s footsteps.
