Theatre play: Scena Prapremier InVitro – Liza
Based on Dostoyevsky’s “The Eternal Husband” (Вечный муж, Vechny muzh); directed by: Łukasz Witt-Michałowski; lighting: Krzysztof Sendke; scenography and costumes: Marek Braun; music Max Kowalski; production: Monika Stolat; stage lighting: Marcin Kowalczuk; sound: Karol Rębisz; starring: Mariusz Bonaszewski, Jarosław Tomica, Matylda Damięcka, Dominika Podsiadła
During one of sleepless nights, the house of Alexei Ivanovich Velchaninov is visited by Pavel Pavlovich Trusotsky, who reminds him a disturbingly painful story from his own past. The intruder, drawing on the old-time “friendship” between his late wife Natalia, Velchaninov and himself, he draws Alexei in a twisted, duplicitous mind game the stake of which is the future of a young child – Liza, the love child of Velchaninov and the wife of Trusotsky. Abused, tormented and threatened, socially uprooted and abandoned, Liza falls victim to the incomprehensible conflict of adults.
„Liza” is a study in child’s suffering thrown inside the adult world devoid of stability. The play was produced thanks to the support of the Wola Museum in Warsaw and the Warsaw Historical Museum.
