THE TIGER LILLIES
The Tiger Lillies – the origins of the group date back to 1989; today, after 25 years in the music business the band still remains one of the most original, unique and genre-defying phenomena. Having recorded over 30 albums, the artists will enjoy their anniversary together with the audience in Lublin. To celebrate the night, the group has decided to prepare a special retrospective set.
The creative output of the Tiger Lillies is dark, mysterious, informed by dolour and black humour as well as peculiar beauty. Founded by Martyn Jacques (vocalist and accordionist), the Tiger Lillies is an anarchic and Brechtian ensemble whose ironic and reserved songs treat of the life’s underbelly. Their music is inspired by pre-war German cabaret, Romany vibes, classical sounds and the tradition of Kurt Weill, Bertolt Brecht and Jacques Brel. For that reason alone, their concerts are an unusual aesthetic experience – astonishing, engaging, one of a kind.
Apart from Jacques, the group consists of Adrian Stout (double bass, saw, theremin) and Mike Pickering (drums, percussion instruments).
