Exhibition: Krzysztof Toczyński – ”Ikrysty”

Exhibition: Krzysztof Toczyński – ”Ikrysty”
Start date 2015-01-09
Start time 00:00
Ending date 2015-01-17

Krzysztof Toczyński is an artist who specializes in the interior design of churches. Among others, he has designed the interiors of the churches in Żabia Wola, Wólka Lubelska as well as in the Tatary and Sławinek districts in Lublin. Toczyński has also designed the interiors of the Higher Theological Seminary in the Archdiocese of Częstochowa and the St. Ann’s Church in Radzyń Podlaski.

The artist explains the nature of his works in the following way:

The works are the result of my fascination with this unique way of depicting things, spirituality and religiousness. The form is accentuated by the choice of wood (often damaged), applied textural primers and vibrant colours (shades of red, gold and blue). My works are like non-written hand painting owing to the interpretative way of perceiving the rules and canons of icon-painting. Albeit painted in a simplified and free form, the works retain the sacred character of portrayal. The painting of icons requires concentration, silence and a contemplative mood that can be evoked by Orthodox or Passion music. I thank God for having let me discover my vocation and, thus, allowing me to fulfill my being by creating these works.

The exhibition runs until 17 January 2015.
